Athenairis offers “strategic communication” when the two parties meet.
This intricate work requires more than just translation and interpretation.
Sometimes consecutive interpretation takes time and loses the momentum and smooth flow of conversation.
At the same time, the communication style between Japan and the western world is quite different, and goes beyond the language barrier. Interpreted words are often “lost-in- translation” because they are understood differently due to cultural and behavioral differences.
Athenairis will work together with clients, and go beyond interpretation and the simple exchange of languages, through consultation in advance, interpretation with communication navigation.

More and more, the global economy is intertwined; there is no major economy that will not be affected by another major power’s policy and regulatory changes. Such regulatory changes are the result of discussions and issues raised by industries, academia, and NGOs.

Mariko Fukumura Besra has supported the policy-making process through her dedicated research, as well as strategic communication over the past 11 years.
She led more than 150 policy and regulatory research projects in science and technology policy (nanotechnology, chemical materials regulation, bioethics etc.), as well as national security issues at Washington CORE.
Through these projects, she supported over 300 interviews and helped to build long-term relationships between the parties of different nations.
She traveled to Guatemala and lived in Mexico in 2015 for her sabbatical, learning Spanish and Latin American culture.
Mariko has a M.P.I.A. (Master of Pacific International Affairs) from the University of California, San Diego, the School of International Relations and Pacific Studies.
She also graduated from Aoyama Gakuin University, earning her B.A. in International Politics.
